INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY FOR FIRE SUPPRESSION

A device of various size made in a form of a sticker or a cord, using FIPRON™ technology will remain in a “stand-by mode” for five years and once the fire occurs it will automatically activate to suppress it in the place where it is installed, therefore will extinguish the fire and will not allow it to spread further.

 

Today various composite materials have been created by FIPRON™ technology capable of suppressing fire.  The structure of such materials include microcapsules with ecologically safe fire retardant agent confided within each capsule.  When the activation temperature is reached, the microcapsule shell bursts and the fire suppressing agent is released.

 

FIPRON™ products serve as an additional layer of security to the existing fire extinguishing systems, providing protection to electrical panels and electrical equipment acting similar in part to what the car airbags have done to the safety of drivers and passengers in the automotive industry. FIPRON™ products are easily installed into any electrical box or outlet of any type located in buildings, automobiles, busses, trains, and anywhere where there are electrical wires exist.

COMPOSITE MATERIALS

MICROENCAPSULATION

Microencapsulation is a process in which active substances are coated into extremely small capsules. It is a new technology that has been used in the cosmetics industry as well as in the pharmaceutical, agrochemical and food industries, being used in flavors, acids, oils, vitamins, microorganisms, among others. The success of this technology is due to the correct choice of the shell material of the capsule and at certain parameters this shell bursts and releases active agent which is located inside the microcapsule.

Fipron has developed a unique technology for using a microencapsulation method of various gases which are used for fire suppression purposes.  Our capsules can remain in a “Standby Mode” for over five years, therefore storing fire suppressing agents, which are automatically released when needed, i.e. when fire occurs.

When capsules reach an initiating temperature, they burst and release active agent.  Active agents can suppress fires of class A, B and C. Until an initiating temperature is reached, microcapsules remain intact within the rage of ambient temperature of -50 ℃ to + 80 ℃.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

The contents of the microcapsules are a gas extinguishing agent 3M™ Novec™ 1230 FIRE PROTECTION FLUID (FK-5-1-12; CF3CF2C(O)CF(CF3)2; 1,1,1,2,2,4,5,5,5-nonafluoro-4-(trifluoromethyl)-3-pentanone), which does not contain ozone-depleting substances.

It is a next-gen halon alternative offering outstanding performance, a large margin of safety, and an excellent environmental profile.

It is electrically non-conducting in both the liquid and gaseous state. The breakdown voltage of Novec 1230 fluid vapor under saturated conditions at 1 atm, 21⁰C over a 2.7 mm electrode gap is 15.6kV, nearly 2.3 times that of dry nitrogen. The breakdown voltage of liquid Novec 1230 fluid under the same conditions is 48 kV.

FIPRON™ CORD extinguishes inflammation source at early stages of fire, prevents distribution of fire beyond limits of a protected space, and excludes repeated ignition in the protected volume for over 30 minutes.  Due to its elasticity it is simple in installation, does not require power source, and remains in standby mode for over five years without any maintenance.

FIPRON™ STICKER is an autonomous fire suppressing product which contains a thermally activated microencapsulated fire suppression agent FIPRON™. It is a fundamentally new solution designed specifically to protect from fire occurrences in electrical sockets, connectors, and electrical boxes having a rating IP20 or higher and a volume ranging from 0.03 to 25 liters. FIPRON™ STICKER operates as an intelligent and autonomous fire suppression system and automatically activates at 120 ⁰C at which point microcapsules burst and release fire suppressing agent FIPRON™ to extinguish a fire. FIPRON™ STICKERS are flexible, easily installed in confined spaces, have different bending radius, lightweight and can be used in a temperature range between -50 ⁰C to +80 ⁰C.
